CCMHP was launched in 2011 to scale up mental healthcare in Nigeria’s Benue State, with a focus on primary care and community-based services. CCMHP brought together a number of key stakeholders from state and local governments, state hospitals and faith-based organisations, into a public-private partnership working toward a common goal. Although CCMHP has been funded by the Australian government to-date, there is an expectation that the programme will be self-sustaining in the future. This is an important crossroads for CCMHP. What would a sustainable partnership look like, in this challenging, low-resource setting, and what does this mean for CCMHP?
